Conspiracy theory of the day

The conspiracy type pages have been worried about a lot of loud booms heard all over the world in recent months,




 but Spaceblogger DavidReneke notes even NASA hasn't figured out where they are coming from, but suspects they are either sonic booms from supersonic spacecraft or meteors.

That sounds about right: A lot of the "UFO" sightings in the 1950s and 1960s were experimental planes.

When I worked in Mescalero, not far from the White Sands proving grounds, our patients just would shrug and say they were told not to worry when they saw UFOs, because it was just the AirForce doing their thing.

Both Roswell and Trinity site (where the first Atomic bomb was tested) was nearby.

Alamogordo had a space museum with an IMAX that showed films, but the most amusing part of Alamogordo were signs in German welcoming the Wehrmacht, who trained there...even cable TV had a German station...
