On Sunday, we cleaned up the grave and yesterday Joy bought flowers and decorated Lolo's grave.
In the Philippines, Undas, All Saints day, is the day we celebrate those who died before us by going to the grave, fixing it up, and then having a small meal there with relatives.
The cemetaries are usually packed, and there are vendors to sell you snacks, candles, flowers, and toys for kids who are bored. (also beer, although it is forbidden).
The cops have to direct traffic because of the crowds, and the country is essentially shut down on Oct 31 and Nov 1.
