For later reading

Bookmarked for later reading on my tablet:

Spengler on the sense of the sacred.
-------------

SanDiego is putting up huge tents to stop hepatitis

and so where are the restrooms? in the corner of the tent... a long way to go.
---------------------

unemployment in Zimbabwe
---------------------------

Rods from God AKA the telephone pole of Thor, AKA kinetic weapon.
------------------------------

BBC background on NoKorea.... summary seems to be: it's Trumpies fault:  if you just raise sanctions he will settle down and just make more weapons, and maybe even get around to using money to feed his people. Except he didn't feed his people when SoKo and Obama made nice of course.

StrategyPage take is here, and has stuff about us and Burma.
------------------------------

question: Was the fake story about Trump's contact to Russia an honest mistake, or did someone plant the story to make money in the stock market by crashing the price of stocks?
Which is why Trump, whose expertise is business shenanigans, suggested that someone should sue the news organization for their monetary loss...

related article: The Empire Deep State Strikes back...no, not Inforwars but USNews

--------------------------------

The Pope gets the "kitty kelley" treatment, and it isn't pretty....

related item: he is more worried about destroying gaia via using air conditioning than about killing grandmom in Catholic mental institutions.

At a time when bioethics is descending into nihilism, he talks the talk but then makes nice with these population control bozos  at Vatican sponsored conferences, and restructures the Vatican pro life institute to include trendy green issues and pro abortion non Cathoics, while getting rid of those who are too "narrow" in the actual defense of human lives... and then he assumes we don't notice.

Nat Hentoff once called bioethicists "apologists for death", since in ethical discussions they mainly pushed the idea why it is ok to let someone die (or nowadays just kill them, since senile people and babies aren't really legal persons anyway)

But now Bioethics itself is degenerating into absurdity.
The case for not having babies.
The case for having sex with the dead.
The case for having sex with Fido.
Those who the gods would destroy they first make mad.

the subtle philosophical arguments against these nihilistic mindsets are HERE and Here but apparently the Pope hasn't read them...

Christmas wars are upon us again.

Trump is celebrating Christmas in the White House again.

And presumably he will also celebrate Hanuka.

Hopefully, the US, instead of censoring religious celebrations, will let everyone celebrate and be happy about it, as we do here in the Philippines, where Eid and Christmas are both holidays.

But will Trump pressure the new Saudi government allow their 1.2 million Christians, mainly overseas workers, to celebrate the holiday?

finally, there is a new film about Dickens writing the book the Christmas carol, which has the absurd title: the man who invented christmas.

What cultural narrowness. Catholic, Orthodox, and Lutheran folk in Europe (and in the USA) always celebrated Christmas: And the reason that we have "Santa Claus" instead of Father Christmas is because of the Dutch immigrants to the USA.
