Gaslighting the reports: From the council of "yutes" to the latest scandal

the shenanigans of the conference on yutes has been warned against, and the African bishops tried to stop the agenda, but it is being manipulated by subtle language (i.e. code words not understood as such by those who don't understand Italian) and by adding documents and language that weren't part of the discussion as if they had been voted on.

Long article explaining the manipulation here.

this is disturbing: manipulation in clear sight, and then lying about it.

I believe the new code word for this type of thing is "gaslighting".(psychology today article)

this is getting closer and closer to a schism, (and then will come: who gets the loot/hospitals/real estate/etc?) and that is not a good thing. A lot of pushback is being done by the African bishops, who remembered their colonial heritage and look askance at a gay agenda that they see as being a way for legalizing western sex tourism and child abuse of their most vulnerable.

Also not a good thing: Tagle of Manila is there auditioning at the meeting for next pope and pushing the gay agenda at the meeting.
well, it is good news for the expanding Protestant sects here, one of the little noted stories of the decade.

lots of things going on in the church, some in the open, and some you only will hear about as rumors the lower blogosphere.

Italian Vaticanista Magister notes again that the Pope is calling those who criticize him as doing the devil's work.

well, Magister already lost his vatican press credentials awhile back, and is not going to make the powers in the vatican happy because he is busy helping to expose their vices. and giving publicity to whistleblowers like Cardinal Vigano.

so now the Pope's minions have a twofold plan for censorship:

One: get all "catholic" blogs certified by the Vatican. So be certified, or you aren't catholic.
No biggie.
Doesn't mean you can't read them.

or maybe not:

Because part two is to get SJW mobs to get your site shut down,
as "hate sites", as Lifesite, which has become the "go to" place for finding out what is going on with the bishops found out.

Crisis magazine article explains how this is being done.

So where is the next attack? mainstream commentary sites like the Catholic Thing or First Things ? not yet, but I wonder....

More background links on how bloggers and small town papers in the Altoona Johnstown area publicized what was going on there years before someone finally noticed.

most of these are about the Altoona scandal, which was known locally in the late 1990s to 2000s.

for example, this 2002 article from the local Johnstown paper (via Free Republic, which still has summaries of the articles on their website) and more links link2 link2 link3 link4 link5

the bishop's notorious 2003 article that insisted all the charges were old, includes the line:
I repeat once more that there have been no allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by a priest of this Diocese having occurred since I became Bishop on May 20, 1987. The communities which comprise the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown can be assured that any allegation of a sexual abuse of a minor prior to 1987, of which I have been made aware, has been handled in an appropriate manner.
but in the mid 1990s, a patient of mine cried on my shoulder upset because the lawyers in the diocese were pressuring the family of a local boy who was molested by a "nice" visiting priest not to report the case to the authorities. Yup. The bishop isn't lying: he didn't say there were no cases, he only said "no allegations" of "which I have been made aware" happened.

Dr. Berlin's paper shows the attitude or experts in 1999.

If I am not hysterical about the "scandals" it is because we knew about them years ago, and are thanking God that the evil is finally being confronted.

Sort of like lancing a boil: Very unpleasant, but the alternative is for the corruption to go inward and kill the patient.
