happy new year

we live a block from the city plaza so lots of noisy fireworks last night, despite the fact we are at the edge of a major storm and it has been raining on and off.

Hey, we're Filipinos: Never let a little rain stand in the way of a party.

When I went out a 11:45 to join the neighbors in making noise and to watch the fireworks...alas, as soon as I opened the door, the three puppies ran into the room and hid under the bed (joining the three adult dogs who were already shivering from the noise).

Luckily they were too scared to eat my shoes or the throw rugs on the floor (which they tend to do if you are careless and find them).

So at midnight we ate a meal to celebrate the new year before going back to bed.
