A little known story of the soldier's children

Pearl Buck used her fame to publicize and place Asian-American Children left behind by their American soldier fathers, but there was another story that is less well know:  of the Children of the Black soldier in Germany, where the racism of the society made such children (and their mother) outcasts. Their mothers often put them into orphanages, and this is where Mabel Grammar comes into the story.

NYTimes obituary of Mabel Grammar tells the story of a black journalist who discovered the problem of "mixed race" children and helped place 500 of them in homes, adopting 12 of them herself.
