But historically, other volcanos caused the "year without a summer" and resulted in Mary Shelley writing Frankenstine after being stuck indoors with her philandering paramour.
But another volacano, Laki in Iceland, was even more catestrophic, but not as well known, resulting in haze, cooling and later crop failures in Europe.
