if you watched the Korean series Jewel in the Palace, it is a fictional version about a woman who became a female physician to the king. here is her real story of Jang Geum:
now available on Amazon prime, but we watched it years ago via a local streaming service.
She starts out as a cook, so a lot of the stories have food preparation as part of the story, and they stress the link behind diet and health.
but the last third of the very long drama series is about her desire to practice medicine, and how her skills resulted in her becoming one of the physicians who treated the king.
