Earthquake yesterday. I only felt a vibration, but hey with all the heavy rice trucks going by my house, I just thought it was that.
However, Kuya was upstairs and felt a jolt and then some vibrations. Luckily nothing fell over. It felt like a level three earthquake in our area but was 5.6 in it's epicenter south of Manila...
Joy is busy at her business and they are doing lots of trade fairs. Lots of rice deliveries going on also.
Lately we are getting rats: partly from the garbage strewn on the streets from people coming home from the parties in the nearby Plaza where they have a lot of food stalls for snacking... (yes, there is a large trash can for people to discard ten feet up the street, but hey this is the Philippines). We usually clean up the worst of the trash/garbage later in the day, but the rats are around at night, and then they come inside and are killed by the dogs.
The bad news? One of the dogs got sick: the vet saw jaundice and since her lepto shot was out of date said she probably caught lepto from the rats. So now we have her and all the dogs on tetracycline.
More dog news: the Mamadog had six puppies. Since we are keeping her out of the bedroom so she doesn't get infected, she decided to have them in the hall closet. Last time, all the puppies looked like our alpha dog Barry, but this time she got out of the compound via the garage and mated with two dogs up the street, so this litter includes one white, two brown, and three black puppies.
We hope they will all survive.
In other news, the cook showed me a painful rash and asked what it was. Shingles, alas. So I put her on Lyrica which is what worked the best for when I had shingles. We hope this is not a sign of another illness, but she is a diabetic, but she has a lot more energy than I have.
