So the latest solar flare gave us lots of lights in the sky, but no disaster. WTF? We were told it would kill us all.

What this most recent storm has shown us all, however, is that the engineers and managers who run those systems did their proper due diligence in the ensuing decades. By 2024 they were prepared for such a big storm, and when one arrived on May 11, 2024 they made sure that infrastructure continued to function throughout. And it did.
