we are involved in the organic food industry here in the Philippines and this is correct.
But when other countries can produce rice cheaper using chemicals and three crops a year, we have filled the niche with gourmet organic food for the middle class
The problem? The government subsidizes this type of farming while ordinary farmers can't make a living so are selling their fields to the nearby solar farm organization, or (worse) digging up under the topsoil to pan for gold.
The farmers got their land where they worked for others including our family with land reform, but their kids are now educated and don't want to work hard and stay poor.
Since it is limited by law on how much land a single person can own, it means no big agri company is buying up the farm to plant using modern technology and displacing the small farmers to grow high yield crops for a profit.
and there is actually a shortage of farm workers: Many of our fields are farmed by people from Joy's village in the Visayas, for example.
And many farm fields are being sold to people from Manila for second homes, or to Balikbayan, overseas workers who have returned home and want to live outside the cities and hire peple to work the farm land they have invested in for retirement income.
So although we support organic farming, the dirty little secret is that Clarkson is right: It is more expensive and lower yield. And indeed, a country that imposed organic farming on their farmers resulted in an economic crisis and famine.
ignore that social pressure and in the USA where there is no universal medical insurance, meaning that surrogates could pressure people the sick and elderly into killing oneself so their relatives don't end up with medical bills.
And don't forget: The recent articles in medical journals saying hey we can even take their organs, meaning another way to pressure the depressed to end their own lives.
There was a big scandal of a young depressed woman killed in Spain and whose organs were taken from her: WHy did she chose death? Depression after a gang rape in a government facility for troubled teenagers.
So if Elon pays someone to make another version of the Odyssey, which one would you watch?
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Someone on line mentioned the movie Quigley down under, which I had never watched, and so I found it on Internet archives and while checking it out found a lot of louis L''Amour type westerns there too.
ah, remember when movies had people you liked trying to do the right thing and the films actually had a plot?
but if you do a search on youtube for the Phila shipyard you will get lots of videos for the hoax Philadelphia experiment.
Which says a lot about what Youtube thinks I am interested in.

Rubio is in Manila for a big ASEAN meeting and has this pithy answer to the never ever biased MSM:
QUESTION: Have you made any progress on Ukraine today? Is Russia serious about peace this time?
SECRETARY RUBIO: I mean, you think we settled the war in Ukraine in our 30 minutes here in Asia?
there is a big push for technology in the Pax Silica plan, ere is a including an AI site, using the old Clark AFB site, so the usual environmentalists who never complain about China destroying fishing in the west Phil sea are complaining about it in the SCMP> which used to be a good news source before China took over Hong Kong and it's media.
The state of the nation address will give more information and I probably should post more about this, but it is to the west of our area: Our area is more famous for the huge solar energy farm to supply electricity to Manila.
In the meanwhile, because Rubio is here, China decided to attack another Philippine vessel in the West Philippine Sea, just to show they can cause trouble.
Sigh.
-----------------
Finally, there seemed to be a big astroturfed series of attacks against JD Vance, including one report in a major US MSM complaining he missed a meeting (luckily X added a content explanation: He wife was having a baby).
In addition one of his SSA was leaking information on his location to one of the MSM news sites. Even I am aware he had to move to a military housing for protection.
But anyway, I was wondering WTF was causing the hysterical and coordinated attacks at this time. Maybe because as a veteran he has questions about the war in Iran pointing out that people there do not think like Americans.
Then my automatic feed that I was listening to (I run discussions and podcasts in background when I sleep) sent me to his interview on Joe Rogan. I awoke to this part with a discussion on unions HERE. About unions and the minimum wage and how Europe pays new employees below minimum wage as apprentices, but it is illegal in the USA.
Imagine a discussion without empty rhetoric.
And he is also on other non MSM podcasts discussion his latest book in which he goes into losing and then finding his religion.
The actress with a masters degree who plays Helen of Troy in the new movie apparently never read the book. DUH.
But one good side effect? Lots of discussion about the movie, both pro and con, and also by experts in archeology, history and literature, mean that the clueless are now aware of the story.
The best thing that has happened to Greek literature since Percy Jackson
Here is a discussion at EWTN to give you an idea of how the movie is getting a discussion of various ideas that it brings up.
I haven't seen the movie although it is at the local mall. I'll wait til it's on Netflix.
The constant propaganda out of Gaza is always ignoring the dirty little secret:
That the war was started by Hamas.
That Hamas stole aid supposed to go to civilians to build tunnels and buy weapons and rockets.
That if Hamas had arrested those behind the attack and given them to either Israel or a neutral third country, the war would never have gone on.
And of course the leftists who hate Israel are parroting the propaganda without examining if the news reports put out by Hamas are true.
But what is worse is that conservative Catholic sites are busy parroting the same line. A remnant of anti Semitism of Belloc or Father Coughlin? Who knows.
But there are even claims that Israelis dancing at a festival never happened, or if it did happen it was okay because all Israelis were enemies so it was okay to kill them
and then farther away from that party, there were Asian casualties who had nothing to do with the war but were killed. And these farmworkers are rarely part of the discussion.
Why were they killed? Envy.
Local farmers are hiring Asians to help with the harvest.
This displaces jobs that could be done by local non Israeli Palestinians who no longer were hired for fear of terrorist attacks.
What has not gotten much attention is how the west uses third world farm workers, from Mexicans picking tomatoes in the USA to Indians working in northern Italy.
So the story no one in the west wants to remember is that Hamas didn't just kill the Israelis, but these workers.
Some 46 Thai migrants were killed when Hamas attacked on 7 October. Another 31 were abducted, with three dying in captivity in Gaza. In northern Israel, five were killed by Hezbollah rockets. Despite this, most chose to stay and continue to provide an essential service to Israeli agriculture.
so farmers no longer wanted to risk their lives hiring locals
Thai workers constitute the largest contingent of foreign migrants currently in Israel. The first began arriving in 1993, when the Israeli government started issuing temporary work visas to reduce Israel's dependence on Palestinian agricultural workers for security reasons, in the wake of the first intifada, which broke out in 1987.
no it did not spontaneously break out. It was a decision by their leaders, who weaponized hatred while stealing aid money and getting rich, but of course no one bothers to follow the money stolen in this or many other so called foreign aid help from richer countries.
when I searched for a video discussing the story of the kidnapped Thai farmworkers, I found a few videos from eight or more years ago complaining Israel was mistreating these workers, and a dozen recent videos complaining about Israeli tourists in Thailand.
But I found exactly one video from Australia about one of the hostages.
which says a lot about the zeal of the human rights activists who only condemn Israel.

Slay Magazine reports that Arthur Caplan has discussed how they are using "Grain dead" patients to use for experiments.
Professor Caplan revealed that NYU Langone Health operates a research ward using the bodies of neurologically injured patients for experimentation.
Caplan referred to the patients as “neomorts” and the experimental facilities as “bioemporia.”
since I am not familiar with the site, I will post the podcast from Youtube.
The NEJM published a dozen pro euthanasia articles in the early 1990s, and as a result I quite the Mass Medical society in protest since that magazine was sponsored by the MMS.
But apparently they are still pushing murder as medicine.
Voluntary Euthanasia — Implications for Organ Donation | NEJM
Sep 5, 2018 ·
Canada now permits physicians to hasten the death of a patient by means of physician-assisted suicide or voluntary euthanasia. This development creates a new pathway for,,,
Contextualizing the Dead Donor Rule in an Era of Voluntary ...
Growing acceptance of voluntary euthanasia, which opens the door to death by organ donation, warrants a recontextualization of the dead donor rule and assessment of the ethical principles involved.
the bad news is that this is already being done in Canada (and probably in Europe)....and as Canada shows a move to helping depressed people kill themselves, you can see how easily they can be persuaded choosing death will benefit someone whereas if they stay alive their lives have no meaning.
I will have to figure out full links later of course. But my point is that this is not a popular opinion but one being pushed by those in charge of medicine.
this means the entire Hippocratic Oath has been destroyed by the woke in charge of medicine, yet for some reason it hasn't gotten a lot of publicity, even in my medical reading.
And where the hell are all the bishops and the Pope?

you know, there are hundreds of influences out there, so why the hysteria about Kirk?
And why has Candace Owens constantly changed her story about this?
Can you say "Gaslighting" children?
Candace's supporters are saying she didn't actually say these things. Here are the receipts, most from a single Shawn Ryan interview. I've transcribed every episode on YouTube. There's more. pic.twitter.com/hGFsPFyaB3

now, I am a Democrat and never heard of Kirk, yet the spiritual cascades coming from his death affected thousands of young people, especially young men. And it affected me in a positive way helping me to get the (Physical) strength to go back to church.
Since I am not an evangelical or a Republican, and I don't live in the USA, I cannot judge if this is still going on.
However, the over the top hatred against him and his widow suggests a major psychological problem: projecting their hatred to someone who is a minor figure in today's world and threatening his widow.
The passionate hatred reminds me of my patients with paranoid schizophrenia: Not the quiet ones who say the CIA or the little green men are taking over the world, but the scary ones who you hope won't start acting on their impulses.
The gaslighting is not just of Kirk's shooting: it includes those who take what he said out of context, or more commonly don't quote him at all but just parrot talking points they read from an internet influencer (Owens is not alone in this you know), nor is this type of hatred limited to one side in today's politics, but when it targets family members it has crossed the line.
Someone who had hundreds of hours of talking on podcasts that are still on line, yet those hating him merely say he is hateful, and take a single distorted sentence out of context to prove it.
and of course they insist anyone who talks about conservative values is hateful and should be shunned or worse.
Not logical. Sigh.

update: A pro life British MP has been killed, and the demons are again rejoicing . as this video notes at ten minutes in
I can't find a link, but in season five episode 3 of Clarkson's farm is about the supermechines and high tech farming of the future.
When I fist visited the Philippines, the planting was with waterbuffalo and our staff took off to harvest their fields by hand. We supplied a small thresher to separate the seed from the stem, so that was a help.
But slowly the farmers who now own what was once Lolo's farthers farm, were gifted it by land reform, are now getting older and their kids don't want to work. So they are selling the land to returning overseas workers who rent it out to tenant farmer, often from poorer areas of the Philippines. And now many have sold or rented their fields to the company putting up a huge solar farm in our area.
Over the years, the water buffalo were replaced by handthreshers ((a small roto tiller) and in more recent years, we rent a huge harvester thresher to bring in the crop. We still plant by hand but give it some time and there are machines that do that.
We are organic, and with fertilizer prices going up (first the Ukraine war stopped potash exports and now the increased price of diesel and petroleum based fertilizer) the price of organic fertilizer, mainly from the local chicken and pig farms, is also going up.
So how do we make a profit? We barely make one: and it was made worse when one of the rice buyers absconded after buying it with a check that bounceed.
Sigh.
So yes we are still growing rice in our area, but what is also going on is looking for gold in the subsoil. Not much gold there, but hey when farmers earn less than ten dollars a day, every little bit helps.
I am not sure how many rice paddies are now no longer growing rice, but you have to remember that the Philippines imports food. Of course, the rich businessmen make oodles of money importing cheap rice so they benefit. This keeps the price of rice low which is good for the poor and working class in the cities, but is discouraging for local farmers.
So although I doubt we will ever go as mechanical as the European farm machines shown to Mr Clarkson, what worries me is that their prices will be another blow to local farmers. This happened a few years ago, when cheap imported onions from Europe undercut local farmers prices.
In episode three, Jeremy Clarkson and his team cross the border into the Netherlands and Belgium. There, they visit Rotterdam, among other places, where they take a look at the futuristic Floating Farm. A floating farm, in other words. We see Clarkson look skeptical at first, and then become amazed by technology he doesn't actually believe in.
The older high estrogen pills not so much but the newer high progesterone ones and the BCShot does.
And don't get me started on the hormones they use for infertility and endometriosis, which we see in older ladies who haven't had babies in their twenties.
(Yes the same medicines they use to transition kids.(and treat certain cancers).
So we pollute out water supply with waste water estrogen and progesterone, not to mention hormones given to animals, and of course phytoestrogens in plastics and Glyphosate in herbicides.
So down goes the sperm count.
Up goes the metabolic syndrome and obesity.
and no one wants to mention that having and nursing ten kids and running around taking care of them will keep you thin.
the alternative is having ten kids and getting rid of plastics which make life easier and safer (No broken glass bottles). And mass starvation because weeds are destroying the crops.
But Independence day remind me of the the Boston Pops, who would play this as an encore to their concerts:
,,,,,
Then you have this story about the fans who came to the US to watch the World Cup and discovered that what they thought they knew about the USA was wrong. Duh.
,,,,,,
Ironically, almost no one on the discussion groups has noticed that. \the later episodes of this series is about the US revolution, including the Battle of Saratoga, and now has ended with the Battle of Kings Mountain.
of course these are not the only martyrs killed by the enemies of those who hate Catholicism or Christianity and of course these same evil types attack the pious of other religions including Judism, Hinduism, Islam.
the new controversial movie that is banned in some places (So Elon let it be put on X) is a modern day imitation of Charles Bronson's Death Wish movie.
No, I didn't watch it nor will I watch it in the future because it is violence porn.
So will it encourage right wing nutcases to do the same thing in Europe and in the USA?
Probably: copycat crimes are a known public health problem:
Yet the recent rape gang report in the UK suggests it was covered up, and there are anecdotes that similar crimes are not punished in Europe. So this film will encourage vigilante justice and suggests the use of weapons for self defense might become more common
But no one wants to admit this is already happening: But by the left, and its shocktroops of Antifa.
We read about left wing folk on line spouting non stop hatred of working class folk who are called MAGA, or who are justifying murder and making heroes out of those who murder for political reasons.
one does hope that payback murders against criminals and crooked politicians in the USA and Europe doesn't reach the point of what happens here in the Philippines.
sigh.
I remember the African Proverb that warns: Even a small snake has a fang.
There is a need to spread peace, but alas pacifism always suggests normies need to be peaceful but rarely points out the crimes that they are angry about because the pacifists always underestimate the depth of evil.
Thousands of migrants are fleeing South Africa amid xenophobic violence and ahead of planned anti-immigrant protests on June 30. Malawi, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, and Mozambique are repatriating citizens following the events, with many camping outside consular offices. pic.twitter.com/ktO5T7gMGt
So it's not just some in the USA trying to get rid of migrants who flood their country, don't assimilate, steal the jobs of locals, and often resort to crime to live. It is also happening in parts of Europe.
Myself, I oppose sending people back to places like Haiti which is still in chaos, and now Venezuela has had an earthquake, so would you send people there? Regan had the right idea: Those with jobs and assimilated should get an amnesty.
However, the Somalis who defrauded the government via NGO type stuff, and drug gangs, no problem. Throw them out or put them in jail.
Assimilation is a big problem, and in the USA it has been a problem, and local xenophobia against those from a different culture is not a new thing: The Knownothing riots of the 1844 for example was against the Irish Catholics, who were poor and uneducated fleeing the Irish Famine, but their presence exacerbated the anti Catholic prejudices inherited from England. This prejudice was still around when JFK ran for president and he had to point out that he would not push Catholic law into US law, because he would take the oath to defend the constitution: something that ordinary Muslims might want to tell the loudmouths pushing Sharia law into the USA to learn this lesson because their statements about making this into US law is making those of that religion unpopular in some areas.
Most Yanks reading about this (in AlJ, since I doubt the US MSM even knows that it isn't just white Boer farmers fleeing that country) don't realize that South Africa has a problem with African refugees too.
The original inspiration was the treatment of black South Africans under apartheid, but the short film was made to satirize the negative attitudes of South Africans to the refugees.
....'
so remember this film the next time Steven Spielberg and others tell you that the people from outer space just want to help you and are superior.
The refugees in District 9 are slaves who revolted against their masters, and fled to earth. But hey, it could have been worse (/s)
