Joy is in Manila, staying with her sister, while she is at a tradefair. We hope she's ok.
We only got heavy rain. The electricity went off at ten for only two hours, and the house was dry, so after it came back on, we went to bed.
Alas, there must have been a leak and a puddle in the ceiling above the living room, because when I got up, the living room/dining room had an inch of water in it. So I had to turn off the electricity to the house until we check the wires. (The apartment and meeting rooms were dry. And since we moved the rice into the meeting room, it was okay. Still have to check if the cement in the storage shed kept dry).
Unfortunatly, the pump room curtain hadn't kept out the rain, so in the middle of the night I had put mamaDog and puppies under a cabinet in the dining room to keep dry. Bad idea, it turns out...they were dry, but their rug was soaked. So I moved the puppies to the hole under our "Mama Mary" shrine in the hallway, and with the help of the cook cleaned out the deepest part of the water.
While we were cleaning up the flood, Lolo insisted he HAD to go jogging, and left. There were large puddles in the streets, but most of the rain had drained off the streets. (We have only 4 foot deep ditches as sewers, partly covered where there is pedestrian traffic.)
We're hoping the wires are okay so that we can use the Airconditioner later in the house.
See how much fun it is to live in the Third world?
