Frederica Mathewes-Green discusses...vaccum cleaners.
Here we only have a small dirt devil, but then we only have small rugs that we can roll up and clean outside. What we have is a maid with a broom and mop.
This is good, because it means it's easier to clean up when it rains and the roof leaks, or if the dogs decide that an open bedroom door is to their own private commode.
Back in Oklahoma, even though we had a small house, the cut rate vacuums died about once a year...
So I too bought an Oreck, and it was wonderful. Didn't hurt my back to clean the rug.
However, I agree $500 bucks is a bit much to shell out.
The answer? Ebay.
Mine was reconditioned and cost only $120...we gave it to the neighbor when we left Oklahoma, and it was still working after three years...
All Together folks: I bought it on Ebay...
