Helping in disasters gets little publicity

British experts hired by the oil company is trying to salvage the ship causing the mid Philippine oil spill, but the Philippine coast guard is busy, and is asking for help from Japanese and American experts.
Greenpeace has a ship nearby and is helping the government with expertise in protecting the environment.

Mayon volcano is settling down; maybe folks can go home soon.

The bodies of the two Pinay maids who were killed trying to escaped after employers locked them up have arrived back in the Philippines (no link). Families will get about $5000 death benefits.

Nigeria will cut down on local kidnappings from oil companies...several Pinoys were among the victims...

And while checking the African news I ran into this:
And Ethiopia has had some flash floods, killing over 300; US Troops have gone there with help including food and tents...Seebees to the rescue...doubt it will get thanks or publicity.
