Science headlines below the fold

Wine may prevent Dementia...
I'll drink to that!
--------
Stem cells can turn cancerous...and they need to do research on why.
The mutation is more common after more cell divisions...which is why Embryonic stem cells or clones (which start with 10 cells) are more likely to cause problems that adult stem cells, because you can start with a much larger number which then don't have to divide as much.
But do adult stem cells start with an increased potential to form cancer?
No clear answer yet...

For stroke repair, you need the scaffold cells, not just the brain cells...

---------------
Mumps makes a come back.
We saw this with measles when my kids were in high school...so they increased to two measles shots.
But apparantly two aren't enough for mumps...
Wait til Chicken pox starts a resurgence too...

And the scientific headline of the day:

Just 20 minutes of weekly housework boosts mental health

actually, all sorts of physical activity boosts mental health, but don't tell your hubby or he'll decide he prefers sports of one sort or another instead of helping with the dishes.
