Drugs, Sex and...Hepatitis C

Another long term benefit from the swinging sixties: A hepatitis C epidemic.

Usually HepC takes decades to slowly destroy the liver, and now the LATimes lament
that the "boomers" are suffering from this "latent legacy"...

The virus is spread via IV drug use (and sexual contact) but can also be spread via blood transfusions.

There is treatment, but it is nasty and expensive...but the CDC will now mandate everyone be tested because people won't admit to their past sins. (This is nothing new: it is the reason that we used to test every hospital admission for syphilis in the "good old days").

No, I haven't been tested, but I was tested for HIV, because our gloves frequently broke during surgery in Africa....
