Female soldiers in the U.S. Army are finally getting a combat uniform designed for the female figure. Next comes another struggle to get the army to supply a protective vest designed for women to wear comfortably. It's a chore for a woman to wear body armor designed for men. With more women showing up in combat support jobs comes more instances when women are under fire. Women having to move around, under fire, in body armor not designed for females, can get a lady killed. Heh...when I was in the National Guard, my camos were XXXL long pants (long to allow room because I am high waisted) which I had to cut off a foot from the legs to make short enough. But I used a Medium top, and even that was large for me. Luckily, class A uniforms fit well. and I had to buy "boy's combat boots" from a catalogue because the Army boots were too large. ----------------------- related item: A book on the history of female warriors. They usually were in "support positions" (not just sexual favors, but cooking, cleaning up, and other chores). But some became warriors. One example is when I read about the Aztecs attacking a Spanish camp, and one of the wives came out and brandished a sword. Heh...where did that Spanish lady come from? Similarly, in fiction, one of the O'Brien books about the British Navy discusses Aubrey allowing a woman to do the laundry and nursing on his ship. more books here, from romantic fiction to Calamity Jane to the Amazons.

Lady soldiers
The US Army finally figured out that women aren't the same as men, and are redesigning not only the uniforms but the flakjackets to fit better.
