Stories below the fold: war, pestilence, and Brexit

I guess Trumpieboy didn't start WWIII so the MSM is upset

and so the "orange man bad" propaganda meme has moved on to say he is taking Adderal because he sniffles. (uh it's cocaine that makes you sniffle because you snort it: Adderal is a pill, but never mind)...

and of course, Trumpie boy has many sins, but because he lost a brother to substance abuse, this is not one of them.

in psychology, this is called "projection", where you accuse others of what you are doing. I don't know about the press, but 30 years ago a friend's daughter working in the justice dept in Washington DC as a lawyer said cocaine use was widespread there, and I suspect nothing has changed.

and then the MSM wonders why a lot of "normals" don't believe what they write, which is unfortunate because like all professions, such nincompoops and sociopaths are a minority among hard working reporters, albeit a minority who manage to work their way up to the top quickly because they make friends with others like them.

The rage today is against Trump for saying Iran's bombs and terrorism are being paid for by all that money Obama delivered to Iran is also huge.

But the backstory is that Obama offered a peace plan to the Mullahs: Return their money from frozen accounts and lift sanctions if they stopped promoting terror and making a bomb.

That last part was never done, and this is common knowledge, not just on conspiracy sites but in the European press, who were given a bunch of documents to prove it.

So essentially Obama is not evil, but like Chamberlain, duped by the baaad guys for trying to make "peace in our time".

Trump, the cynical businessman, is calling their bluff: the art of the deal,or maybe the art of war.

Soleimani, the guy they wacked, was in charge of the Quds and Shig militia types who not only push terror in other countries but were killing protesters in both Iran and Iraq. AustinBay writes:

The Pentagon believes Soleimani was responsible for killing over 600 U.S. military personnel in Iraq. Given his crimes in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, I'll wager his overall homicide toll exceeds 100,000.
In Syria, Soleimani employed Lebanese Hezbollah as a gang of thugs to keep Bashar Assad's dictatorship in power.
Soleimani was killed in Iraq. So? He was waging a war in Iraq and on Iraq using Iran's "Shia popular militia force" proxies. Getting killed in Iraq is a known risk if you wage war in Iraq. Which is why Soleimani's decision to brazenly arrive at Baghdad International Airport and slide into an SUV strikes me as stupidity bred by fatal arrogance. It indicates a fool's contempt for his enemies. Soleimani ignored the old saw that every truly smart warrior knows to be bitter truth: Your enemy always gets a vote.

So they held a big funeral (where people were ordered to turn out, yet if he was popular, why would they have had to do this?) and the MSM reported this as if it was spontaneous.

can you say "Potemkin village" children? Of course, the misinformation is being pushed by all and sundry here so it's hard to figure out what is going on.

as for the Ukrainian airliner: well, some poorly trained anti aircraft gun operator took it out. Can't point fingers too much at them, since the US did this 20 years back, not to mention the Russians in the Ukraine did the same last year.

but of course the MSM hacks are adjusting their story to blame Trump: From Instapundit:

U.S. ISSUED NO-FLY ORDER OVER IRAN, IRAQ HOURS BEFORE UKRAINIAN PLANE DOWNED.
Meanwhile, the Journolist or its 2020 equivalent is hopping today: ‘MSM memo has gone out!’ Neontaster notices media hacks like CNN’s Susan Hennessey using this word to help Iran shift blame for downed flight onto Trump.

Sigh. In these days, politics trumps all, alas, and it will be spun by both sides to make the other one look bad.

So the US Congress voted not to let Trump attack Iran: these are the same ones who got hysterical when he pulled US troops out of  Syria.

oh look:  AlJ reports the siege of Idlib has ended when Turkey and Russia made a deal.

The Wuhan viral pneumonia is a Coronavirus, the same family as SARS or MERS. CDC website on the virus that mainly is found in animals.

BBC summary: it comes from animals and there is no evidence of human to human transmission.

Sounds good, unless you read the entire article and come across this:
How worried are the experts?
Dr Golding says: "At the moment, until we have more information, it's really hard to know how worried we should be.
background The Chinese lied about SARS, so should they be trusted here?

and now there are at least 15 cases in HongKong, and a new case in a Chinese traveler in Korea...who claims not to have visited the meat markets...

Financial shenanigans at Nissan have been reported in the Japanese press, but Instapundit links to this article that summarizes what is going on.

So a Brazilian born Lebanese businessman with a French passport was running the company?

these things are over my head: I even have trouble filling out my income tax forms.

Green Headline of the week:

Belching in a good way: How livestock could learn from Orkney sheep

Summary: have your sheep seaweed and they won't belch (methane) so much.

also from BBC: The "Epstein didn't kill himself" headline of the day:

Jeffrey Epstein: Jail CCTV erased by 'technical errors'

no, not the CCTV of when he died, but the CCTV film of his "first" attempt when his roommate was there and tried to stop him: the roommate, a crooked cop, was seeking the film to exonerate him from suspicion he was trying to harm Epstein.

of course, the British tabloids reported this last month, but it was originally denied: which is why one needs to read the scandal sheets and conspiracy sites.

they summarize conspiracy theories here.

and of course, the big news of the day: Brexit is coming.

really.

all together now:
