The mayor is going around giving out sacks of rice in the poor neighborhoods: The closing of the shops mean a lot of people are out of work. Some people in Manila protested, and Duterte told them he'd shoot them if they continued. Another politician paid the bail of those who protested, of course: Pure political theater. But if the shut down continues, it will mean more unrest here because people are getting hungry.
