the good doctor, discussing Italy, notes that the Mafia is probably there waiting to take advantage of the situation... something you have to remember when you hear about emergency aid being sent to less secure places.
I know it was very hard for us to import medical equipment into our hospital in Liberia because a lot of it would be stolen at the port, and that which wasn't stolen was often held up for taxes eve though it was exempt. ( A common problem we missionaries ran into). So often we asked around for people planning to travel into the country and asked them to bring stuff in their suitcases for us.
the good doctor also mumbles a comment on why anyone would be going on a cruise... and wonders about the US Navy having a problems.
Well, the spin is that the captain was relieved because he made the problem public, but it was more than that: Essentially he told an aggressive China who is threatening all and sundry in the West Philippine sea that one US Air craft carrier was out of service.
the alternative would be to offload the sick and test the rest while getting replacement crew and decontaminating the ship (not mentioned in most of the reports) so that the carrier would stay in active service. And of course, the Captain reportedly let his crew leave ship whe they visited VietNam, letting them risk an infection.
Instead, he went full hysteria: and presumably will become a hero to the MSM who hate the military

propaganda...never let a crisis go to waste.

four drugs are being used in a drug treatment trial by the WHO including for those in the Philippines:
not usually mentioned: price.
Four different drugs or combinations will be tested including remdesivir, lopinavir-ritonavir, lopinavir-ritonavir plus interferon beta and chloroquine.
Important for poor countries with thousands of cases is that the drug be cheap and available. Chloroquin is already used in many poor countries for some forms of malaria (not Falciparum, which is resistant but other forms). and now some are saying Ivermectin, another common medicine, might work).
