Censorship? How dare you

 AnnAlthouse links to an article at the Canadian National Post on how Jordan Peterson was told to attend reeducation lessons or he'd lose his license as a professional psychologist.

For my crimes, I have been sentenced to a course of mandatory social-media communication training with the college’s so-called experts (although social media communication training is not a scientific and certainly not a clinical specialty of any standing). I am to do this at my own expense (some hundreds of dollars per hour) and for a length of time that is to be determined only by those retraining me and profiting from doing so. How will this be determined? When those very re-educators — those experts — have convinced themselves that I have learned my lesson, and will behave properly in the future.

One suspects interviews like this might have angered the Trudeau government, who shut down the truckers protest, the background being covid paperwork.

So what does criticizing the government have to do with clinical psychology?

Because another reason cited was a podcast with Joe Rogan, who has interviewed him several times, but presumably the last straw to the PC was an interview that said the trans craze was from social contagion, something that is obvious to anyone watching the funding of groomers in schools:  which got exposed, partly due to parents complaining about a rape by a trans boy in Virginia (where the USAttorney general said the parents were domestic terrorists) and  thanks to the Libs of TicTac exposes (which of course got her banned from Twitter before Elon Musk).

So Ms Ressa got a Nobel Prize for being harassed for being anti Dutere (ignore that she was taking CIA  whoops I mean the Omidyar money to run her anti Duterte website, and foreign money is not allowed to fund media here: it happens all the time but is usually done under the table) ,

but the real heroes are local jounalists who does this about local corrupt politicians or businessmen, and here it is cheap and easy to order a hit on them. And this didn't start with Duterte either.

But the USA and west pride themselves on freedom of speech... but now we find there has been a lot of censorship pressure on social media sites, and if you dare to oppose the views of the elite, you get censored.

but if you know where to look you can find other points of view discussed calmly, with details (not ranted over like is done on Fox etc.)

So why isn't Peterson, Rogan, and Elon Musk getting the Nobel prize for opposing censorship?

Rogan not only let Peterson discuss his opinions, for which he is being censored, but it was the Joe Rogan podcast with Dr. Malone that sort of broke the wall of censorship to let the public know what was going on with Covid censorship. Transcript here.

I don't usually follow twitter, but the latest reports from there is about censoring people who question the censorship of the Covid origin and how to treat it.  It is an ongoing story, but that hasn't stopped the MSM from doing pre-emptive strikes to tar any such reports: by saying Twitter was dropping it's "Covid misinformation policy"",

It may be another week before the full report on the covid censorship story comes out: and it is disturbing. 

and here I am not talking about professional anti vaxxers who get rich off of pushing conspiracy theories, or of Russian /Chinese disinformation campaigns against western vaccines (something that has been going on for 40 years),  but of reputable doctors and PhD's with public health experience who questioned the overblown shutdown of the economy, the failure to report side effects of the vaccine, the denial of long covid, and the persecution of doctors using experimental treatments?

One problem in all of this: the story of covid has changed. And this is true for all the policies, which were needed at first but as people got herd immunity, high risk folks got the vaccine, and the milder Omicron varient replaced the more virulent strains, there were very real questions about continuing these policies.

Using a vaccine to stop the original Covid2 infection that killed many high risk people was justified by a cost benfit ratio. And giving boosters to the elderly for the mild strain makes sense in the same way that giving them Influenza vaccine is sensible: because we might not die of the flu/omicron covid, but it will exacerbate our heart/asthma/ etc. problems and we will die of those things.

But giving repeated boosters to young people  to stop a new strain that is essentially a cold doesn't make sense, especially since the myocarditis side effect is related to repeated boosters.

And censoring doctors who question the prolonged economic shutdowns will be the next story,  as the deaths from the economic side effects of the shutdowns becomes clear. (Hunger due to inflation making food too expensive for the urban poor will affect many countries in the next year or two).

One note:

I think anti vaxers are killing people  their hysteria scares parents who won't get their kids vaccinated agaist childhood disease that in the US are not a big problem but that can kill third world children with borderline malnutrition.

we here in the Philippines saw this after the Dengu vaccine debacle: where dozens of kids died because they didn't get their MMR/ DPT /polio vaccines after a half dozen kids died after getting the Dengue vaccine (because they were improperly screened).

But it is the crazies who alert people to problems, and like the kid in the Emperor's new clothes, alert the public to things that are inconvenient to the official narrative.

They only see part of the story and think it is the whole story, which it is not: 

But  they do bring up problems that need to be addressed.

this is not a new problem, you know. And it's not just in medicine.

I am old enough to remember when JFKennedy had an interview in an ordinary women's magazine, and one thing he was asked about was the Women's strike for peace (a communist front anti nuke group). The interviewer expected him to point out the  need for nuclear weapons, but he didn't. Instead he said he was happy that they were there, because voices were needed to counter the pressure by the Pentagon etc. to go to war.

Something to keep in mind when you read all those papers released last month about his assasination (released during holidays so no one would notice, and went into the memory hole since then)...
