Due to super high water absorption and water retention capacity, superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) can be applied to effectively ameliorate utilization of water in agriculture, such as retaining moisture in the soil and reducing the irrigation water consumption,

hmm... wonder if it would work in rice fields.

Right now, they are fixing (dredging) the irrigation canals, so no irrigation for the next few months. The monsoon season is here, so usually irrigation is not needed. However so far there hasn't been enough rain to prepare the fields, so planting might be a bit later than usual.

Right now it is raining, and the rain started a few days ago, so hopefully we will get a good crop this year (hoping there are no typhoons at harvest time).
